British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
