Trump's Organization Sought to Bring In Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

The former president’s family business increased its recruitment of overseas employees on temporary visas this year, while his administration was creating barriers for other businesses attempting to do the identical, a report released Thursday claimed.

According to data from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to bring in at least nearly 200 foreign workers in the coming year for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his winery in Virginia.

The quantity of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for staff including servers, clerks, cleaning staff, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the record filed by the company, and up from 121 in the previous term, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that the former president had attempted to hire more than 100 foreign employees for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, according to labor statistics.

The revelation comes amid a tightening on legal immigration by his administration that has involved the implementation of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; extra scrutiny of the actions of the 55 million people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and reporters.

In total, the Trump Organization sought to hire 566 foreign laborers over the period the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by some in the GOP this period for comments justifying the need for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to occupy particular roles.

“You can’t just say a country is coming in, going to invest billions to build a facility, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in five years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that well,” he stated to a interviewer after it was implied that overseas employees lower the wages of American employees.

The White House declined a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
